Some stinging or pulling is normal, but discomfort is brief. Experienced technicians use quick, precise strips and can recommend numbing cream for very sensitive clients. Most people report minimal soreness afterward lasting only a few hours.
Ensure hair is at least quarter-inch long; gently exfoliate a day or two before to remove dead skin. Avoid retinoids, heavy lotions, and sun exposure 48 hours prior. Arrive clean, wearing loose sleeves for comfort and hygiene.
Most clients enjoy smooth arms for two to six weeks, depending on individual hair growth cycles and hormonal factors. Regular waxing often extends intervals as hair grows back finer and slower, allowing longer gaps between appointments.
Avoid waxing sunburned, irritated, or broken skin. For sensitive skin, inform your technician—patch tests, gentle formulas, and soothing pre- and post-care are available. If in doubt, reschedule until the skin has healed.
Apply a cool compress and a soothing lotion with aloe or calendula immediately. Avoid hot baths, heavy sweating, and tight clothing for 24 hours. Gently exfoliate after 48–72 hours to prevent ingrown hairs and protect skin.
Schedule waxing every three to six weeks based on your natural hair growth and desired smoothness. Beginners may start with three- to four-week intervals; as follicles weaken, you can gradually lengthen time between appointments.
